Motivational Interviewing continues to set the standard for staff engagement and retention using specific techniques to encourage partnership, acceptance, and evocation while moving them toward individual and program goals. One of the most effective MI tools is called OARS, which stands for open-ended questions, affirmations, reflections, and summarizations. When utilizing OARS, leaders empower staff, demonstrate empathy, and assist them in weighing the pros and cons of their decision-making. This workshop will cover setting the stage for difficult conversations, how to ask the "right questions," and avoid power struggles.
